- Who it's for
- Free wildfire home ignition zone assessment, provided at no cost or commitment to Kern County residents. As of July 1, 2026 the council says assessments are available to residents of the Kern River Valley; the page also lists the greater Tehachapi Region and the Mt. Pinos Communities, and asks residents outside these areas to contact the office. A council assessor reviews the exterior of the home and the surrounding property, and the resident receives a report with observations and recommended actions. The council says these are not inspections or enforcement actions. Program goal: 1,500 assessments by December 2027.
